Abstract

Dental practice in the Northern Territory of Australia has to overcome a number of logistical problems related to the vast area and the low population density. The population is largely of Aboriginal origin and has significant medical problems including problems relating to dentistry. This article describes the present system for provision of dental care in this area, along with the authors' experience of a scheme involving co-ordinated care trials aimed at improving the health of the population.
