Abstract

For dentists to make well-informed decisions about oral healthcare, it is important that systematic reviews of current best evidence are available. Systematic reviews may help to prevent treatments being endorsed long after evidence from trials has concluded that they are useless or even harmful. Conversely, they can help shorten the time period between medical research discoveries and the implementation of effective treatment strategies.1
