Abstract
To celebrate the retirement of Editorial Board Member Professor Edwina Kidd from GKT (Guy's Campus), a celebratory conference was held on Thursday, 2nd September 2004 at Guy's. The speakers were eminent in the work for which Professor Kidd is world famous, namely, cariology. The day commenced with a presentation by Professor Ole Fejerskov from Denmark, in which he traced the history of cariology. A quote from him is applicable to all who practice dentistry:
