Mosby's Comprehensive Review of Dental Hygiene

The latest edition of this text provides an extensive review of dental hygiene which has wide appeal to both students and qualified practitioners. The 22 chapters cover a wide range of relevant topics from basic sciences to clinical patient management. The text provides a comprehensive review of the subject area utilizing clear and detailed diagrams, clinical images and self-test questions with clinical scenarios at the end of each chapter. The text identifies further reading and provides reference to other resources, including access (via a unique code) to the Elsevier website which contains additional material and exercises that further supplement the content. Although primarily aimed at students preparing for the US National Board Dental Hygiene Examination, it has a lot to recommend it for hygienists within the UK and Europe. Although some of the statutory regulations cited differ from those in the UK, the vast majority of material presented is relevant to the trainee and practising hygienist in the UK.

In summary, this is a reasonably priced, well written and illustrated wide-ranging review of dental hygiene, containing extensive self-assessment sections to help reinforce the material delivered. It has the added benefit of access to a comprehensive online resource which further complements the text.
