Welcome to Tara Renton

It is with pleasure that I welcome Professor Tara Renton to the Editorial Board of Dental Update. Tara will already be known to readers by way of her epic series on Pain and other publications for the journal. Tara brings a wealth of expertise to us, given her role as a Specialist in Oral Surgery, but also with her experience and expertise in trigeminal nerve injuries and pain, making her a world authority on these subjects. After completing her Oral and Maxillofacial surgical training in Melbourne in 1991, Tara undertook a PhD in Trigeminal Nerve Injury at King's College London from 1999 to 2003. She was later appointed Senior Lecturer at QMUL and then was awarded her chair in 2006 at King's College London. Over the past 7 years Tara has led the Oral Surgical undergraduate teaching, with minimal access approach and modern LA techniques being in the forefront. Among other roles, Tara is an elected member of the RCS England FDS Board, the RCS Eng National Advisor for Oral Surgery, member of the Oral Surgery SAC, and represents dentistry on the National Surgical Safety Board. It is therefore obvious that Tara will bring a wealth of experience to the Dental Update Editorial Board, which ultimately will be of benefit to our readers and their patients. Tara, you are most welcome to the Editorial Board.

Farewell to Dr Richard Oliver

It was with sadness that I accepted Richard's resignation from the Editorial Board of Dental Update as he had decided to make a new career in the pharmaceutical industry. Richard has been a hard-working member of the Board for five years, given that a large volume of oral surgery-related papers which are received for consideration makes much work for the Oral Surgeon on the Board. Richard has fulfilled these tasks with vigour and fair-mindedness and has advised me and the Board well with regard to the content of future issues. He will be missed, not only on the Editorial Board, but also in dentistry in general. I, and other members of the Editorial Board, wish him well in his new career, which I am certain will bring him the success that he has achieved in dentistry.
