‘Mini sucker’ tips used in endodontics

I read with great interest the technique tip written by Philip Ower in the November issue of Dental Update.1 Indeed, the control of bleeding during various periodontal and restorative procedures with such mini suction tips can be extremely useful. However, I would like to highlight that some proprietary tips are available which offer the convenience of such a mini sucker. One such example is the Surgitip-endo by Coltène (Figure 1). This tip can be bent and rotated into any direction with its ball design allowing excellent access. Furthermore, this tip fits well onto any suction unit with a connector supplied with it, thus overcoming the disadvantage of a blunt needle being loose, as stated by Philip Ower.1 Hence, in addition of the use of Surgitip-endo in endodontics, it can easily be used in periodontal and restorative procedures for providing a clean dry field.
